Houston North Instrumental Ensemble

Hey, do you play a musical  instrument?  The Houston North Church is forming an instrumental ensemble to serve in backing up hymns and performing special music.If you would like to participate, please sign the list at the Information Table.

Dallas Summer Picnic & Softball - June 25

It’s that time of year again! Get your softball mitt out and oil it up! Warm up your throwing arm! And, please - come hungry! We will be holding the annual summer picnic and softball games on Sunday, June 25 at Churchill Park in Dallas. The festivities will include, softball games, Nolan Ryan Fast Pitch contest, Home Run derby, swimming, tennis and lots of children’s games. We will supply the meats, bread and condiments. You will supply the sides, salads, deserts and drinks. Please direct any questions to Phil Sandilands at sandilands at comcast.net. The festivities will start at 9:00 am with lunch being served at noon. See you there!

Graduation Announcement

The Waldrup and Dullum families are pleased to announce the graduation of their children, David and Breanna, from the University of Texas at Austin. David graduated with a Bachelor of Architecture degree and Breanna graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Communication Sciences and Disorders and a Bachelor of Science in Neurobiology. David and Breanna are moving to Dallas, where David will be working at the firm HDR and Breanna will be attending the University of Texas at Dallas where she will be attending graduate school.

Teen Garage Sale - June 9

It’s time again for our annual teen garage sale. All teens and adults interested in working the sale should sign up at the Information Table. If you have items you would like to donate to the garage sale, please bring them to the church hall over the next two Sabbaths, or contact Lisa Bentley (936-499-4205) if you need to arrange pick-up. To make things easier, and to speed things up, we would appreciate if all donated items, except clothing, are priced. The garage sale will take place from 8:00 am - 1:00 pm at the following location:

Children’s Choir Practice - May 27

If your child is between the ages of 5 and 12 and would like to participate in the children’s choir on Pentecost morning, please pick up your CD and lyrics located at the Information Table. We will have our first practice next Sabbath, May 27, after services.

Teton Challenger Camp Openings - July 9-20

The Teton Challenger Camp has an opening for one female counselor age 23 or older, and for one rock climbing staff member who is experienced in belaying.  Applicants for both jobs must be able to do strenuous hiking in higher altitudes.  There are also a few camper openings, especially for young men. Women’s Christian Living Workshop - June 24

On June 24, we will continue our discussion of Stormie Omartian’s book, The Power of a Praying Woman, and focus on Chapters 15-30.  All women (18 years and older) are welcome. You did not have to be at the first meeting toparticipate. Please see Jeanine Burt or Laurie Curry if you have questions.

UYC Staff Openings at Challenger Camp

The Teton Challenger Camp currently has staff openings for two female counselors and one male counselor. Applicants must be mid-20’s or older and physically fit enough to participate in the strenuous hiking and backpacking program along with the campers. Teton campers are older teens and young adults through age 21, so counselors must be mature, responsible adults. Southern California Young Adult/Teen Weekend - July 13-16

Get stoked! The United Church of God Garden Grove congregation will be hosting a summer weekend for young adults and teens July 13-16. Activities include: a meet and greet pool party, beach bonfire, Sabbath brunch/Bible study, followed by services (guest speaker-Clyde Kilough), open gym night, beach party, and concluding with a farewell dance. Ages 13-25 are welcome. We are asking for a $20 a person registration fee. This fee will help provide 3
for the cost of the weekend meals and activities. For more information on Southern California’s “O.C.
