East Texas Basketball Weekend - Jan 27-28

Here’s the latest information on the East Texas Basketball Weekend Jan 27-28.

Officials Clinic
First, let me once again mention that we have DVD recordings available of the BB Officials Clinics presented by Walter Crane in Dallas a few weeks ago. If you’re interested in getting a copy of the DVD, please let me know. We really need more officials, so see the section below about contacting Walter Crane if you can help next weekend!

East Texas Basketball Weekend
As I mentioned last week, our first basketball weekend is here in East Texas, on January 27 & 28. As in the past, we will have services at 2:30 PM in the afternoon, a potluck meal after services, a teen dance on Saturday night, adult basketball games on Saturday night, and teen and preteen basketball on Sunday. All the basketball takes place at the Gladewater High School gym facility.

Women’s Enrichment Weekend

After many months of planning and hard work, God blessed our efforts, and we can say that our first Regional Women’s Weekend was an unqualified success! It was gratifying to see so many ladies using their gifts and talents in service to one another. We appreciated the emotional and financial support and encouragement of all of the men, as well as their help with the hall set up and sound. Thank you and congratulations!

2007 Teen Show Practice - January 21

There will be a practice tomorrow for all teens participating in the Teen Show. Please be prepared to start promptly at 12:00 pm - this means getting there in advance so that you’re ready to go by noon. Please enter the building quietly, as men’s club might still be in session. All participants and stage crew are needed for this practice, so show up fed and ready to work. Light snacks will be provided.

Silver Ambassadors Bunch & BINGO - January 28

Afterwards we will play White Elephant Bingo. Please sign up TODAY so we will know how much food to buy. Also please bring a small gift wrapped prize from home - something you feel you can part with (anything from a roll of toilet paper to some little knick-knack). It will be fun seeing what everyone wins. Hope to see you there.

Special Announcement from Clyde Kilough

In the December 16 letter read in all congregations, we announced that due to the healthy state of our income we are going to be able to substantially invest more money this fiscal year than we previously thought possible. This includes plans for paying off the home office facility, more ministerial training, plus over a half-million dollars extra in our media efforts to preach the gospel.

Expanding our media efforts is, of course, “mission critical.” For the last number of years our efforts to proclaim the gospel have been growing steadily, actually mushrooming in some arenas, and all signs point to this trend accelerating in the future—the church’s membership is united and zealous, the income is strong, the media tools are in place.
