Houston Area Dinner/Dance – March 8

This is the last day to register! Please join us on Saturday evening March 8th, for an evening of dinner and dancing at “Giardini di Piazza”. We will be having an Italian themed dinner, live music, and fun for the whole “famiglia” (family). As a special treat, we will be having “Dancing with the Deacons” – come out and support the Houston area deacons as they “cut a rug”! Registration should be mailed no later than Monday, February 25th. Tickets will not be sold at the door. Flyers with more details and registration information are available on the information table. Young Adults

We would like to compile an email list of all the Young Adults in Houston North. We’ll use this to communicate Bible Study details, meetings, information about YA activities in the region, etc. If you consider yourself a Young Adult, please send your email address to: ucgmembers@gmail.com so we can keep you up to date.

Yarn Classes

Outreach Program – Beyond Today

We need volunteers who live within Houston city limits to monitor the Houston Public Television broadcast of the Beyond Today program. We also need a few volunteers to monitor the broadcast schedule on the public television website. You do not need to live in the city limits to monitor the website. For more information please contact Ivor Mitchell.

In Home Bible Study - January 16

This week’s Bible Study will be hosted by Becky Palmer. Dinner will be served at 6:30 pm and the Bible Study will start at 7:00 pm. Please be sure to call Becky at 832-283-0594 and let her know you are coming so that she can plan accordingly.

Women’s Luncheon – January 8

The luncheon for January will be held at Lori’s Lunchbox. Let’s plan to meet at the restaurant on Tuesday 1/8 at 11:30. If you need directions - see map on the bulletin board or contact Trish Marshall - 936-449-5920.

Basketball Tournament – January 26-27

Houston will be hosting the first Regional Basketball Weekend of the season on January 26-27. Court time will be provided for preteen (ages 7-12), teens, and adults.

If you would like to volunteer to open your home to out-of-town guests that are coming to Houston for the basketball games, please contact Jennifer Hunter as soon as possible. Homes in Spring, The Woodlands, north Houston and Humble would be especially convenient.

In-Home Bible Study - January 2

An In-Home Bible Study will be held at the Sappington home on Wednesday, January 2.
Dinner will be served at 6:30 pm. Please RSVP at 281-955-6820 if you plan to attend. Directions to the Bible Study are on the Information Table.

Greece Unleavened Bread Educational Tour - Jan 8

During the Days of Unleavened Bread in 2008, the education travel program will offer a biblical study tour of Greece. We will focus on the travels of the apostle Paul and his letters to the Corinthians, examining the meaning and symbols for the New Testament Passover and Days of Unleavened Bread. We have now reached our operating minimum. It seems almost certain we will have enough to make the trip a GO. NOW is the time to put down your deposit and save your place for our education tour of Greece!

Women’s Workshop/Bible Study - January 12

If you are a woman (age 16 and up), please come join us for the next Women’s Workshop. By popular request, the theme is “Getting To Know You”. The workshop will take place between 10:00 am - 12:30 pm. We will have a pot luck brunch during the Workshop. Please sign the list on the Information Table today if you would like to participate so we can plan accordingly. We look forward to you joining us for this opportunity to grow personal relationships in the Church.

Basketball Practice - January 12, 19, 26-27

It’s time to mark your calendars… basketball practices will be held on January 12 and January 19 at McCullough Jr High in The Woodlands. Houston will be hosting the first Regional Basketball Weekend of the season on January 26-27. Court time will be provided for preteens (ages 7-12), teens and adults at all practices and tournaments.

Houston South Talent Show and Potluck - January 12

The Houston South congregation welcomes you on January 12 after services for a Potluck followed by a Talent Show. For those who wish to be part of the entertainment (”talent” is not required!), please sign up at the Information Table. Please be sure to provide the details of your act.

February 3rd is the final dress rehearsal, for our Family Fun Show. If everyone will please arrive promptly at 10:00 AM, we will go through the entirety of the show two times, and should be able to wrap things up shortly after lunch. Please plan to bring your lunch or purchase something nearby.

Houston North Family Fun Show
All members of the Houston north and south congregations are invited to gather at Broze Hall Saturday evening, February 9th, for the annual Family Fun Show. After services, a catered Mexican meal will be served, with the cost per plate at approximately $4.00 (possibly less for small children). Everyone is invited to come and join the fun, with tunes from Houston south band, “Departure”, as well as a multitude of other acts that include vocal talent, instrumentals, comedy, and dancing. Don’t miss this evening of family, fun and festivities.
