As we approach the summer, we anticipate several changes in pastoral assignments. In the next few days we will be able to announce additional transfers. Below is the list from last month with the addition of Tom and Sarah Kirkpatrick.

Some of you may be unaware, but Tom and Sarah served in the U.S. field ministry prior to his becoming treasurer for the Church in 1998. We hired Tom in 1996 to be the associate pastor in Houston North where I was serving as the pastor. In 1997 traveling with the Council and Ministerial Services took me out of the Houston area for several weeks at a time. In many respects Tom served as the pastor of our largest congregation for the two years he lived in Houston.

Given the needs we have in the ministry, we are happy to have him return to the field as a pastor in Alabama. We know that he has big shoes to fill in the case of Bill Winner. Bill was one of our most effective pastors, and his sudden death this past January is still difficult for all of us. Tom and Sarah should make this move from Milford and assume the pastorate before the Feast of Tabernacles in the fall. In the meantime, David Dobson will continue to pastor the Birmingham and Gadsden congregations.
