I visited Jamaica a few weeks ago and sat with the Holiday Inn Sunspree’s reservations manager to get an idea of the number of members that made reservations at the hotel. Some have made reservations with the hotel, but have not requested a Festival Transfer Application from the Caribbean office. Already it looks as if we will not be able to accommodate all those intending to transfer.

The Holiday Inn has limited meeting space — the auditorium can only accommodate 400 people. The Jamaica congregations have 100 people which means that we are only able to have 300 transfers to the site. Currently we are showing 333 officially registered from the U.S. and this does not include others who have made reservations without sending in an application for a transfer.

All who are planning to attend the Festival site in Jamaica, please refer to the directions in the “United News.” If you have not already contacted Kingsley Mather in the Caribbean office about transferring, please do so immediately at
ucgcarib@coralwave.com or by telephone at (242) 324-3169 so we can avoid possible difficulties at the Feast. Already it appears that we will likely need to ask some brethren to make other plans.

We will try to accommodate as many as we can. Those who contacted the office and received a numbered application and are on the United Church of God official room list do not need to contact me.

For those who qualify for early housing for the Feast of Tabernacles, and are attending your local or assigned site, you may begin making reservations on Monday, May 12.

If you qualify for early housing and are transferring, you may begin making reservations on Monday, May 19.

The general membership begins registering on Sunday, June 1.

If you have a need to make early housing reservations, please consult with your pastor or festival adviser to review the guidelines.

For those transferring to Bend / Redmond, Jekyll Island, Kerrville, Steamboat Springs and Branson, there are some hotels which require a pass code for early reservations. Please see Mark Sappington or Mr. Servidio for the pass codes for Bend / Redmond, Jekyll Island, Kerrville, Steamboat Springs and Branson.

Registration for the Feast of Tabernacles occurs on the Sabbaths of April 12, 19 and 26. Registration forms are in the current issue of the United News or Mr. Mark Sappington might have some extra forms. The current United News is the festival edition listing all sites sponsored by the United Church of God. Successful planning for the Feast by Church staff is dependent upon accurate numbers
of attendees in advance of the Feast. Therefore, we ask all heads of households to turn in a registration form between now and April 26. We anticipate everybody will be approved to their first choice, however Hawaii, Panama City Beach and Steamboat Springs remain restricted sites and there is a potential to be denied.

Again this year we will need volunteers to help out with parking and the Mother’s
Room at the Kerrville Feast site. If you would like to help, please contact:

We are in need of volunteers to help in several areas at the Feast this year: Ushering, Mother’s Room, Parking and Special Services assisting the disabled and elderly in getting into and out of the auditorium. If you would be willing to help in any of these areas at the Branson Feast site, please sign the list at the Information Table as soon as possible.

Volunteers are needed to serve at the Panama City Beach Feast site this year in the following areas: Auditorium, Mother’s Room, Stage, Parking, and Special Services (serving the handicapped). If you will not be able to attend any feast site this year and would like to have the Home Office mail you .MP3 recorded sermons, sign the list at the Information Table.

Volunteers are needed to serve as teachers and assistant teachers for the Festival Youth Instruction program at the Panama City Beach feast site. Classes will be offered on two days during the Feast to four class levels (Kindergarten, First Grade, Second and Third Grades and Fourth and Fifth Grades). Sabbath school experience and/or previous FYI experience are helpful, but not required. Older teens (16 years of age and up) are also welcome to serve as teaching assistants. Please see Mr. Jim Servidio if you are interested in serving in this area.

The space for ones’ eMail address was not included on the Order Form for Events (at the NYC Broadway Show and the Sight & Sound Theatres). Please include your eMail address on your Order Form. This is most important, as it enables us to expedite correspondence with those interested in attending these events.

We are in need of a Tech Opps (audio visual) coordinator in Kerrville for the Feast this year. If you are going to Kerrville and can help in this position, please contact Britton M Taylor (bmttaylor at verizon.net)

Members may begin making hotel phone reservations for the Feast of Tabernacles beginning tomorrow at 10:00 am in the time zone of the site they are attending. Members attending Branson, Kerrville, and Steamboat Springs need to be aware of a new procedure for those sites. A pass code will be required for specific properties. See David Buchanan, Delmar Berger, or Jim Servidio for the list of properties and pass code. Although the pass code may seem like an inconvenience, the purpose is to prevent people from calling early or others booking up rooms reserved for the United Church of God. The pass code is only required on June 3. Those making reservations after June 3 will not need a pass code. All sites remain available for transfer except for Panama City Beach and Steamboat Springs. Anchorage has a few openings, but a special application is required. Ample housing bookings were made at each site so that all members will be able to find a suitable accommodation. Experience shows that those who wait a few days to make reservations or even wait through the summer nearly always find what they prefer. If you do have difficulty finding an appropriate accommodation, notify David Buchanan or Delmar Berger. You will be contacted in two or three days with personal assistance.
