The Teens would like to express their deep appreciation for the overwhelming response to their name badge fundraiser. The response has been so great, it’s put them in a pleasant predicament, the supplier actually ran out of material. But, this has only caused a minor delay in production in a few of the badges by a week to two weeks. They apologize and will get them to you as soon as they can. Thank you again for all your support.
Teens don’t forget to fill out your application for summer camp by the deadline of May 1st. Most camps are expected to fill and even have a waiting list so don’t delay. If anyone is in need of a camp scholarship to help with tuition, please see Mr. Servidio.
Due to many families and individuals having plans for Spring Break, including the March 22nd/23rd weekend, we have decided to cancel the practice on the 22nd. Family Fun Show Practice - February 3
February 3rd is the final dress rehearsal, for our Family Fun Show. If everyone will please arrive promptly at 10:00 AM, we will go through the entirety of the show two times, and should be able to wrap things up shortly after lunch. Please plan to bring your lunch or purchase something nearby.
Houston North Family Fun Show
All members of the Houston north and south congregations are invited to gather at Broze Hall Saturday evening, February 9th, for the annual Family Fun Show. After services, a catered Mexican meal will be served, with the cost per plate at approximately $4.00 (possibly less for small children). Everyone is invited to come and join the fun, with tunes from Houston south band, “Departure”, as well as a multitude of other acts that include vocal talent, instrumentals, comedy, and dancing. Don’t miss this evening of family, fun and festivities.
Our first Youth Music Day will take place on December 29, at which time the opening hymns will be accompanied by our teens, and special music will be given by one of our young people as well. All teens are asked to participate in singing the opening hymns, on stage, on this day. We will get together and go through the songs today and next Sabbath, and the young ladies will be learning a descant for one of the opening hymns.
Calling one and all! It’s time to begin preparing for the Houston North Family Fun Show. So far, all we’re missing are the families, the fun… and oh yeah, performers. So, all vocalists, actors, musicians, dancers, etc., who are interested in participating, please sign the list today so we can begin planning. All those who are interested in working behind the scenes are also encouraged to sign up, as there will be needs for stage crew, sound crew, creating props, publishing programs, etc. Practices will begin in January, so there is no time to waste.
The evening of February 9 will begin with a catered meal, which will then be followed by the show — all of which will be right here at Broze Hall. So mark your calendars now, and join us in this evening of food, fun and festivities.
As a result of the latest special music meeting, it was decided that when a fifth Sabbath occurs in any given month, that will be designated as a Youth Music Day. This will give young musicians and vocalists and opportunity to give special music, as well as help accompany the hymn service. Our first official Youth Music Day will fall on December 29, so it is time to begin preparing.
All teens interested in backing up the opening hymns, please plan to practice after services on December 15 and 22, in Room 3. The young ladies will be learning a descant to one of the songs in our new hymnal, which should add a special touch to the song service. Young men will be singing the melody.
This is not strictly for teen choir members, but all teens. If you can sing a hymn, that automatically qualifies you to accompany the song service on Youth Music Day. This is an excellent way to provide a service on these special Sabbaths, so all participation is encouraged and welcome.
This years Youth Day/Fun Show will be held on February 9 following church services and a dinner. The teens would like to invite others from the congregation to join them in providing a Fun Show that evening. There will be approximately 12 performances, with first priority going to teen and family performances; however, additional congregation members can be included as time permits. If you, as a teen or an adult, would like to provide entertainment, assist with props, or assist with stage crew for this year’s show, please sign the list on the Information Table or see Sharon Van Schuyver.
It is time to update our picture for the teen cards that go out to the congregation as a part of our service efforts. We have lots of fresh faces in the teen program, and several more mature ones that have moved on, so October 27 will be official picture day. We will meet at the stage immediately after services, so we can wrap this up quickly.
There will be a teen choir practice next Sabbath, at 4:15 pm, in Room 3, at which time CDs and lyrics will be distributed. We will be preparing to give special music for the Houston volleyball weekend, so everyone that wishes to participate is encouraged to do so.
Attention all graduating seniors (and parents of those seniors): It is time to get your pictures together for the special program in May. Please put your name on all pictures and place them in an envelope. Please give them to Judith McNair no later than April 28.
